I write about attention, craft, and how to spend a life deliberately. I came to it sideways: ten years in editorial work, a few more freelancing, and a slow realisation that the questions I kept returning to were not about productivity at all, but about what we choose to notice.
This site is where I keep the essays. They are short, usually, and they try to be useful without being instructions. Some are about reading and writing; some are about the small habits that make a week feel like a week. All of them are attempts to think clearly in public.
The newsletter
Once a week I send a letter: a short essay, a few things I have been reading, and one question to carry into the days ahead. It is free, and it is never more than a five-minute read. You can join below, or from any page on the site.

My book, The Attentive Life, collects twelve of the ideas I have returned to most. For talks, editing, or anything else, you can get in touch.
